Onyinyeomachukwu Empowerment Foundation (OEF) and Living Christ Mission UK (LCMUK) Kickstart Coastal Restoration Ahead of MSC Great British Beach Clean 2025

Over 8 million metric tonnes of waste make it to our oceans each year. And that’s why, volunteers from the Onyinyeomachukwu Empowerment Foundation (OEF) and Living Christ Mission UK (LCMUK) teamed up to carry out a community beach clean across historic Cornish beaches, SouthWest UK, in anticipation of the Great British Beach Clean this September. Themed “Save the Earth UK” the cleanup effort helped maintain the blue flag status of UK’s most cherished coastal locations, giving seaside lovers and holiday goers a sensitization on the need to “leave footprints not filth.’ “It is a proud and eye-opening moment for me to contribute to the preservation of these beautiful British coastlines which I often come to enjoy,” said Dr. Evans Onwubiko. “This isn’t just about litter. It’s about restoring ecosystems, honouring local heritage, and supporting the UN SDG 14 global goals.” Led by OEF’s founder. Ambassador Onyinye Gift Uwaechia MON JP, the initiative which aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDG 6 & 14) on clean water and sanitation, and life below water, reflects a growing transatlantic mission by the OEF, to support both economical and ecological wellbeing of vulnerable communities in Sub-Saharan Africa, the United Kingdom and beyond. As preparations for the Great British Beach Clean by the Marine Conservation Society (MCS) continue, this event highlights the critical role of grassroots and faith-based organisations in tackling global challenges — from plastic pollution to biodiversity loss. OEF and LCMUK look forward to continued collaboration with local councils, residents, and environmental groups to ensure our world’s treasured beaches and waterfronts remain clean, safe, and full of life for generations to come.
